An Invitation from Austin: Come Hang Out!

Florida. In March. Great fellowship with other Christians, hearing about the exciting things God is doing around the world. What's not to like?

I've agreed to speak at a ministry briefing for supporters of the JESUS Film Project (JFP). It will be held at the Hyatt Resort in Bonita Springs (near Naples, Florida) this March 18-21. The sponsors have allowed me to invite a limited number of SMI readers/members to join us at the briefing.

Your faith will be stretched as we spend time with God and see His heart for us and the world. And, if you like, we can hang out and talk investing over meals and during our free time.

This can be a really fun four days for Susie and me because it combines two major themes in our ministry lives — the SMI family and our commitment to missions and fulfilling The Great Commission. There's room for you at our table — we did this in 2008, and had many meals with SMI readers who were able to come. If you can make it, I know we'll have a great time together!

Here's how it works. Participants pay their own way to the briefing, but are guests of the JFP during their four-day stay. You will enjoy complimentary lodging, breakfast and dinner. Optional luncheons will be offered Friday and Saturday. The Jesus FilmEach day begins with prayer, worship and a message from God's Word; afternoons are free so you can enjoy the resort and local area.

No one is obligated to give as a result of attending, but the intent of this particular gathering is to inform and provide an opportunity for financial partnership with the JESUS Film Project.

I don't know of any effort in the Christian world that is more effective and reaching more people for Christ than the JESUS Film Project. Among the giving to missions that Susie and I undertake, by far the largest share goes to the JFP.

This ministry distributes the film Jesus, a two-hour docudrama about the life of Christ based on the Gospel of Luke. After 30 years and more than 1,000 translations, it's estimated that approximately 230 million people have indicated decisions to receive Christ as their Savior as a result of its use. The goal is to reach every nation, tribe, people and tongue, helping them see and hear the story of Jesus in their heart language.

At this particular briefing, the emphasis will be on the work being done in North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. These areas have historically been some of the most resistant places to the gospel. Walls of opposition exist; nevertheless, there is noticeable progress, resulting in cracks in the wall. We will learn how God is at work expanding those cracks, and hear from JESUS film staff serving in these areas hostile to Christianity. I have so much admiration for these brave folks!

Through SMI we try to help Christian families make biblically-sound spending, saving, and investing decisions. And, of course we want you to be wise in storing up for the financial pressures that can accompany retirement. But these are not ends in themselves. As we say in our mission statement, we want you to have more so you can give more.

This briefing fits in with that goal. It will inform us of some of the amazing things the Lord is doing around the world gathering His bride, and will invite our support.

In an audience as large as the SMI family, there are hundreds who could afford to become JFP supporters should they wish. I hope you'll pray about coming. If you'd like more information, email me at "rsvp@soundmindinvesting.com" on or before February 19. Please include your name, address, and phone number. End
